According to VNA, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said one of the focuses of President Biden’s visit to Vietnam is to promote Vietnam’s economic development in the fields of technology and innovation.

Therefore, he hopes that the two countries’ businesses will prioritize resources for new investment areas, especially digital transformation, semiconductor industry, green growth, renewable energy, climate change prevention and economics.

US President Joe Biden said that now is an opportunity for the two countries to promote relations in all fields, including investment and innovation to `bring common prosperity`.

`This is the starting point, Vietnam – America need to consolidate and increase cooperation to go further in the future. Cooperation and sharing between the two countries is not only when development is favorable, but also in difficulties and risks.`

Vietnam’s advantage in attracting American investors to innovation and the semiconductor industry was also highly appreciated by US Secretary of State Antony John Blinken.

To realize cooperation opportunities, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung proposed semiconductor corporations such as Intel, Amkor, Marvell, Global Foundries, and the American Semiconductor Association to develop chip and semiconductor ecosystems.

Vietnamese - American businesses will cooperate in semiconductor technology and innovation

Vietnamese – American businesses attended the Vietnam – US Summit on Investment and Innovation, on the morning of September 11.

Minister Dung added that Vietnam is developing human resources, offering preferential policies to develop digital transformation, renewable energy, semiconductor industry, innovation centers and financial centers.

Representative of Vietnamese businesses, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh proposed that the US side support the training of 30,000-50,000 semiconductor experts through investment in FPT University, to improve the capacity of the workforce.

On the contrary, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that Vietnamese businesses need to promote investment in the US, improve capacity and capital to raise their level and be able to participate in the global value supply chain.

In this aspect, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh shared that the group plans to invest 100 million USD and nearly 1,000 human resources in the US by the end of this year.

President Biden is on a state visit to Vietnam on September 10-11.

On September 10, the White House announced that it would strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of investment in the innovation economy, science – technology, education – training, trade, investment and economics,

Vietnam-US trade reached nearly 124 billion USD last year, an increase of 275 times in 27 years.
