Design and display

The iPhone 14 generation still maintains the square design from the iPhone 12 era, but only has two screen sizes.

The two standard versions of iPhone 14 and 14 Max use the familiar `rabbit ears` on the OLED screen with a scan frequency of only 60 Hz.

The 14 Pro duo switched to a `perforated` horizontal i-shaped design.

The Pro series also has an Always on Display feature that allows users to monitor basic information such as battery level, weather, calendar, alarm… while in sleep mode.

Apple also brought back the battery percentage icon with the new iOS.

Configuration and features

Instead of equipping all models with the latest chip like the previous generation, Apple decided to clearly classify between the two iPhone 14 lines. In particular, the standard iPhone 14 and 14 Max still use the A15 Bionic chip released since then.

The standard version’s RAM memory is increased from 4 GB to 6 GB to ensure performance, but uses old LPDDR4X technology.

The name Far Out of the September 7 event also caused many technology sites to predict that the new phone will have a satellite connection.

iPhone 14 may be the last generation of Apple phones to use a physical SIM.

Camera

The front camera on all 4 iPhone 14 models will be upgraded with autofocus capability and f/1.9 aperture.

With the rear camera, the two standard versions still use dual cameras with 12 megapixel resolution as currently.

Leaked photos show that the lens on the iPhone 14 Pro is much larger than the iPhone 13 Pro.

The battery

The latest information shows that iPhone 14 has different battery capacities between versions.

Meanwhile, the 14 Max has a 4,325 mAh battery and the 14 Pro Max has a 4,323 mAh battery, slightly lower than the 4,352 mAh of the 13 Pro Max.

Price

Analysts Dan Ives and John Katsingris of Wedbush Securities said that the increased price of components and new features added to the iPhone 14, such as cameras, fast charging… will make the device about 100% more expensive.

Currently, the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 have starting prices of 699 USD and 799 USD, respectively, while the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are 999 USD and 1,099 USD.

The Far Out event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple headquarters campus in Cupertino (USA).
