On the morning of December 11, a representative of the Military Medical Academy said that this number of people registered in two ways: directly at the Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence, Military Medical Academy in Hanoi;

After registration, volunteers are selected to meet 5 conditions such as age, health…, then screened, grouped, vaccinated, and monitored.

If the conditions are met, the selected person will be tested on the day of the screening examination.

Mr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, said that the first phase of clinical trials will evaluate the safety and initially evaluate the immunogenicity of the vaccine.

At the end of phase one, researchers will evaluate the safest injection dose, immunogenicity as well as initial data to move on to phase two.

`I hope, after conducting trials with the research results of phase one, researchers will evaluate the optimal safe injection dose,` Mr. Quang said.

The Covid-19 vaccine is called Nanocovax, researched and produced by Nanogen Company.

According to Mr. Ho Nhan, General Director of Nanogen Company, the research unit of Nanocovax, the company’s clinical trial results on mice, monkeys, and rabbits at the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology were positive.

`The vaccinated mice were still normal, gaining weight, eating normally, but the unvaccinated mice showed clear signs of disease. When sampling, the vaccinated mice were negative, the unvaccinated mice were positive.`

If clinical trials on humans are as favorable as those on animals, Nanogen plans to complete trials in May 2021, asking for advice from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health for emergency licensing.

Nanocovax is Vietnam’s first Covid-19 vaccine clinically tested on humans.
