Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, in his role as Chairman of ASEAN and Chairman of the East Asia Summit, on the evening of September 9 chaired the online conference of Foreign Ministers of the East Asia Summit (EAS)

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh chaired the 10th East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on September 9.

EAS participating countries discussed regional and international situations, including the East Sea, emphasizing the importance of peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.

Countries participating in the conference emphasized the need to promote dialogue and strengthen trust building, refrain from increasing tension and complicate the situation, do not militarize, and do not use or threaten to use weapons.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pham Binh Minh requested all parties to uphold the rule of law, exercise restraint, refrain from actions that further complicate the situation, refrain from militarization, and resolve disputes through appropriate measures.

East Asian countries call for not causing tension in the East Sea

Ministers of countries attended the online East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Conference on September 9.

At the Conference, EAS countries continued to affirm the importance of EAS as a forum for discussing strategic issues of the region.

EAS Partners highly appreciate Vietnam’s role as ASEAN Chair 2020 when actively coordinating the efforts of ASEAN and its Partners to effectively respond to the epidemic, supporting ASEAN’s initiatives on strengthening cooperation in response to the epidemic.
