(Dan Tri) – A health agency run by Hamas said the death toll in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 10,000 after nearly a month of Israeli bombardment, amid signs of an increase in the ground attack.

Determined to destroy Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed not to give up, despite increasing calls for a ceasefire.

Hundreds of airstrikes overnight pushed the death toll in Gaza to 10,022, mostly women and children, a spokesman for the Gaza Health Authority said at a press conference on November 6.

The agency said two children’s hospitals and Gaza’s only psychiatric hospital were attacked.

`They (Israel) destroyed three houses with people, women and children still inside,` one resident, Mahmud Meshmesh, told AFP as he stood near the bodies wrapped in white shrouds.

The Israeli military often accuses Hamas of building tunnels beneath hospitals, schools and places of worship in Gaza to hide fighters, store weapons and ammunition and plan attacks.

Israeli ground forces and tanks swept into the northern half of the Gaza Strip and tightened the siege of Gaza City, essentially dividing the territory into two parts.

The heads of major United Nations agencies issued a joint statement calling for a ceasefire within the territory of 2.4 million people.

`It’s been 30 days. Enough is enough. This must stop now,` the statement said.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on November 6 that they had attacked Gaza with air strikes on 450 targets, although last week they attacked more than 12,000 targets.

The IDF also reported seizing a Hamas command post and killing Wael Asfeh, a Hamas commander accused of helping organize the October 7 attack that killed 1,400 Israelis, mostly civilians.

According to the IDF, Asfeh was imprisoned by Israel from 1992 to 1998 for his involvement in attacks against the Israeli community.

`We will fight Hamas whether they are below or above ground,` said Israeli military spokesman Jonathan Conricus.

On the same day, Hamas and Hezbollah both fired more than 30 rockets from Lebanon toward Israel.

The video shows that Israel’s Iron Dome air defense system intercepted the above missiles.

The IDF confirmed that in just one hour, about 30 rockets were fired from Lebanon into northern Israel.
